Dear Nick Chapman and the Bannerthon team

St. Joseph's Care and Support Trust at Sizanani Village would like to thank you and your company for the donation of R46 000, 00. We appreciate and value your assistance. Through your assistance we will be able to fulfill our mission to the best of our ability by improving the quality of life through a holistic approach of care and support..

In February 2004 St Joseph's Care Centre was chosen as one of only five antiretroviral rollout pilot sites in the Southern African Developing Countries (SADC) by the Southern African Catholics Bishop's Conference and we already have 174 patients enrolled in the antiretroviral treatment programme.

We were approved by the Gauteng Department of Health as a Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) Centre, and services commenced in February 2004 when the Department made available the testing kits. By December 2004 127 people had been tested for HIV, of which 74 tested positive.

We are especially proud that St Joseph's Care Centre has been recognised and commended as one of the four best home-based care programmes in the Gauteng Province by the Department of Health, following an independent assessment that was conducted by the Institute for Community Development and Management.

During the period of April 2004 to December 2004 we have cared for 351 patients in the hospice, 251 patients under the Home Based Care programme and 442 children under the community based care programme for orphans and vulnerable children.

We are looking forward to a continuous relationship with you in the future.

Yours sincerely

Elisabeth Schilling
Director
